Last week I shared what I think God has shown me so far (What I Know Now). You had questions. One question over and over really. So thought I would address that. The question – How do you know? Phrased a few different ways: How do you know God’s will? Or How do I know when God is talking to me?
My short answer is time with God. This means time reading, studying, and applying the Bible to my life.
Knowing God’s Will
Are you looking for some answers from God? My advice would be get to know him better. Don’t just study the Bible, apply it to your life. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe the goal is to be more like Him each day. The only place that will tell you what He is like is the Bible. Lining up your thoughts and actions with his Word will dramatically change your life. Putting you more in tune with how God thinks and acts so you can think and act more like Him.
You can hear from God, too. That time in the Word, praying, listening, applying, meditating, walking in nature, talking with other people, reading books, listening to sermons. All of these things He can use to speak to you. And God will speak to you.
I do not have all the answers but I know the Bible says a wise person has many advisers (for example Proverbs 11:14; 15:22; 24:26). I am speaking with many people about my next step. A big thank you to everyone for generously giving of their time, talents, prayers, gifts, finances, knowledge… all of you who are helping me discern and take that next step towards expanding the Kingdom.
